A couple weeks ago, Marc had a work trip that took him to Augusta, Georgia for a week. Sometimes when Marc goes on trips like this (which are not very many) I get an itch to do something drastic. This time was one of those. Let me give you a little background.
When we purchased our house in June of 2004 (yes, 6 years ago) there were two walls in our home with color. The big blue wall (a.k.a. Smurfville) and the big red wall. The blue wall is the wall in our front room that runs the entire length of the house and the red wall was in the master bedroom. Marc actually had to go on a business trip the weekend after we moved in so my dear friend Lucinda cracked the whip and had a few lady’s over here hours after Marc left. She brought primer, her “Oops paint” that had been sitting at her house unused for years and some paint rollers. She did this because she knew that the wall had to go and quick. We all stayed up late after I put the kids to bed and painted away Smurfville. Yeah! When Marc arrived home he was very surprised to see what we had accomplished. Thank you Lucinda for helping me start life in my 1st home more comfortably.
Last month when Marc left again, I decided it was time for the big red wall to go. Although I liked the color, I did not like it on that wall. I liked even less the verticle blinds that covered our sliding glass door in our room that leads to the backyard. So this time with my own “oops paint” new curtains and a power tool I went to work. I have posted pictures of the before and after and I must say that I am very proud of myself for accomplishing this on my own. Marc was very surprised and he likes the end result. I must say, I have never enjoyed walking into my bedroom like I have since the transformation. Go me!
I love it! I am SOOOO in the mood to paint a room, but I have only a couple that haven’t been painted yet. And way too much heavy furniture to move before I paint. I’m jealous!
